ACCOUNTING

Do you sub-contract work out?

Very rarely. Virtually all of our work is done by us “in house”.  No sub-contracting opportunities exist with us unless they are otherwise advertised on this web site.

Are you an agency that out-sources bookkeepers and accountants?

No. We do not keep a list of freelance or self employed people whom we call on to do work for clients.

Do you do sub-contract work from other companies?

Yes. Some companies give us work to do on their behalf. However, we have an established relationship with these firms and are familiar with their procedures.

Do you do clients' books at their premises?

Generally not. What happens is that we pay prospective clients visits at their premises by invitation to better ascertain the needs of  their business. We also use this opportunity to establish procedures on how we can best work with each other. Since we have all the resources to process clients' accounts at our premises, that is therefore where we work from, otherwise things get too time consuming  and error prone.

Our your clients locally based?

Some are but not all.

Do your do pick-ups?

We do arrange pick ups of clients’ work. However, virtually all of our ongoing clients drop work in to us.

Do you do secretarial work?

No. Any printing and posting which we do is in direct connection to the client’s accounts. For example we would print and post invoices (provided that the quantity is not excessive). However, we do not write general business letters, engage in debt collection procedures, make ongoing telephone calls to their client’s suppliers and customers and so forth.

What is a repeat client?

A repeat client is someone who uses our services on a regular basis. This often happens with monthly management accounts, quarterly VAT returns and annual returns for the Companies House and Charity Commission. It is these clients who provide the bulk of our work. We normally have established set procedures on how they prepare their records for us to more effectively process their accounts.

Why do accounts have to be done on a monthly or quarterly basis?

It depends on the client. Some business need monthly management accounts to calculate their profits to take dividend income or to collect wages. Charities often need monthly or quarterly accounts to obtain donations from trusts and grants government agencies. In order to do VAT returns we must do quarterly accounts.

Do you help with taxation?

Calculating tax liabilities is one of the major purposes of doing accounts for businesses. In doing clients’ accounts we give advice on how to reduce tax liabilities and in some cases obtain tax refunds.

Do you do tax  returns for self-employed?

No. We specialise in company tax. However, we also assist unincorporated associations, sole traders and partnerships with their

tax affairs.

Why don’t you list your prices on your web site?

We generally charge by job and not by the hour. Since the needs of each client is different it is not good practice to give price quotes without having more information about the client and their business. For this reason why like to speak to the client at length first before giving them a price quote.

We don’t you get detailed in your e-mails?

E-mail is for general enquiries only. It is used by way of introduction. If prospective clients require detailed information about our goods and services, then they are urged to contact us by phone. We at De Claron reserve the right not to reply to all e-mails we receive, especially when the sender has been urged to contact us by phone.
